The feature film Golden Sands, which has been lost for years, has finally been located.
Many film vaults in London were searched in the hope of finding the negatives, to no avail until now. They were eventually found in the vaults of Technicolor. Soon we hope to be able to make the film available on DVD.
Golden Sands enjoyed some success when it was first released in 1984. It was seen in cinemas by 30.000 Icelanders, and it got the audience award at the Lübeck Film Festival. Golden Sands was never released on VHS video, as its owners were abhorred by the technical shortcomings of that medium.
